Membership

MARAC is an association of individuals interested in the preservation and use of archival and historical research materials.  Its mission is to assist and support the professional and volunteer archivists, manuscript curators, and records managers in obtaining continuing education, and to provide collegial networking opportunities.  Nearly 1000 members, in seven states and the District of Columbia, serve government agencies, academic institutions, churches, businesses, historical societies, libraries, museums, and professional associations.

MARAC is divided into state caucuses, which provide opportunities for members to discuss, initiate action, and promote statewide archival needs, activities, and issues and to exchange information with local colleagues.  All members may select one caucus as part of their membership and may choose to join additional caucuses for a nominal fee.

MARAC encourages active participation in a variety of committees and positions as well as offering scholarships to archivists and graduate students in the MARAC region. Visit How to Get Involved to learn more.

The central mission of MARAC focuses upon education and professional development. To this end, members of MARAC can take advantage of publications, high quality conferences and advanced workshops at reasonable prices. Participation in MARAC also affords the opportunity to connect with archivists in your area and to create new professional contacts.

Membership benefits include:

  • Extensive networking opportunities
  • Special rates for meetings and travel award opportunities
  • Participation in mentoring circles
  • Access to MARAC's membership directory

The membership form for next year (July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025) is available online at Membership 2024-2025 or can be downloaded HERE. MARAC is pleased to introduce a new "Bridge" member type. Regular membership: $60.00
Bridge Membership (for those unemployed or underemployed): $30.00
Retired Membership: $30.00
Student Membership: $30.00

Please note that full online membership benefits will not be available until payment is received.
